If you’re looking for a practical and fun way to explore the city, renting a scooter is the ideal solution. You can choose from various models of scooters, all new and safe, and enjoy the freedom to move around stress-free. But what are the requirements for renting a scooter? And what are the conditions and insurance coverages? Here’s everything you need to know.

What are the Requirements for Renting a Scooter?

To rent a scooter, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Driver’s License: You must have a valid and recognized driver’s license in Italy. Make sure to bring your original driver’s license with you.
  • Identity Document: A valid identity document, such as an ID card or passport, is required to confirm your identity.
  • Minimum age: 18 years

Is a Security Deposit Required?

Yes. To rent a vehicle, a security deposit of €300 is required. The deposit can be paid with a credit card, which will be pre-authorized for the amount and then automatically released within 48 hours after returning the vehicle if there are no damages. It is also possible to pay the deposit in cash, which will be refunded upon returning the vehicle if there are no damages.

What Changes if I Pay the Security Deposit in Cash?

Can I Rent without a Credit Card?

Yes, with a different cost on the daily rental:

  • Cash: + €20/Day
  • Prepaid / Electron / Electronic use only / Rechargeable / ATM / Maestro / Virtual: + €15/Day

What Does the Insurance Cover?

The insurance, already included in the rental price, covers damages caused by a third party. Additionally, you can add insurance:

  • DRIVER
  • KASKO which includes all damages to the vehicle
  • THEFT AND FIRE (The insurance covers only if you return the scooter keys to the office after a theft or fire)

N.B The theft and fire insurance policy cannot be purchased separately, but can be included as part of the kasko policy. Selectable during the online quote phase.

Make sure you have all the necessary documents before booking the vehicle.

What is the Deductible?

The deductible is the maximum amount you have to pay in case of theft or damage to the rented vehicle (provided you comply with the conditions set out in your rental contract)

  • Kasko Deductible €10/Day Category A B max deductible €300 /€3,000
  • Kasko Deductible €15/Day Category C max deductible €400 / €4,000
  • Kasko Deductible €20/Day Category D E max deductible €600 / €6,000

What to Do if I Have an Accident?

Your liability for damages caused to the scooter will depend on the type of coverage you have selected. Based on the conditions established under the chosen coverage, you will be financially responsible for damages caused to the vehicle.
Until the scooter is returned, you are responsible for the vehicle’s safekeeping.

What Happens if the Scooter is Stolen?

If the vehicle is stolen, the correct procedure is to first call the local police and then the rental station, providing them with the report of the loss of keys or theft of the vehicle that you filed with the police.
Your financial liability will be determined by the coverages you chose at the time of rental.
To prevent theft, we recommend checking the possibility of parking the scooter in a safe or guarded place overnight.

What Happens if I Lose or Damage the Helmet?

In the event that the helmet is lost or not returned to the office, a fixed cost of €75 will be charged – damaged/scratched visor €35 – Scratched/damaged helmet €30 and deducted from the deposit you paid.

What Happens if I Return the Vehicle Late?

In case of delay in picking up the scooter, the customer is required to notify our office. In case of delay in returning, as the vehicle must be prepared for the next customers, vehicles must be returned to the rental company at the agreed time and place. In case of delay exceeding 60 minutes, an additional day’s rental fee will be charged.

Will I be Refunded the Rental Cost if I Return the Vehicle Early?

In case of early return, the company is not obliged to issue refunds.

Do I Need to Fill the Tank with Fuel?

The vehicle is delivered with a full tank of fuel and must be returned in the same condition. Otherwise, a penalty of €20.00 will be applied for motorcycles and mopeds, in addition to the cost of the actual missing fuel. The aforementioned amount will be deducted from the security deposit paid to the rental company by credit card or in cash and will be refunded if the vehicle is returned with a full tank of gas (for vehicle damage, consult the dedicated section).

Is there a Mileage Limit During the Rental?

100 km included then €0.20 per extra km. Or you can opt for UNLIMITED KM €25 / one-time and enjoy unlimited mileage.

What Happens if I Cancel My Reservation?

Cancellation is free of charge if made within 48 hours before (by midnight) the scooter pick-up date. Cancellation requests must be sent via email to: book@rentmenow.it.

Do You Offer a Delivery and Pick-Up Service?

Delivery and pick-up at the rental company’s offices are free. Delivery and/or pick-up at other locations is possible with prior authorization and reimbursement to be agreed upon, as it varies based on the distance from the office and must be agreed upon at the time of booking or contract signing. Indicatively and for illustrative purposes only, for a delivery and/or pick-up every 30 km, the price is approximately €30.00 + VAT.

Is it Possible to Ride the Scooter with a Passenger?

Certainly, our scooters are approved to allow riding with a passenger on board.

Is it Possible to Alternate Driving the Scooter?

Only if you include the second driver at the time of contract signing, the cost is €5/Day. Otherwise, it is strictly prohibited by law.

Is it Allowed to Ride the Scooter without a Helmet?

No, both the driver and the passenger are required to wear a helmet, regardless of age and engine size, according to current regulations (‘art. 171). In case of seizure for riding without a helmet, the customer will have to pay the rental company the price of one month’s rental.

  • The second helmet costs €5/one-time
  • Full-face helmet €10/one-time

What Happens if I get a Fine?

The fine for violating the Road Code C.d.S. is the responsibility of the customer as it results from the customer’s behavior.
If you have a receipt, you can pay it yourself directly at the municipal police station.
Otherwise, and in case of a request from the police, the rental company is obliged to provide the customer’s name, who will receive the fine notification for payment. To this end, by signing the rental contract, you accept the processing of personal data according to the current L. 675/98 and the current national legislation.
The rental company will withhold the sum of €50.00 as a processing fee, without prejudice to the customer’s responsibility for paying the administrative penalty imposed.

Is it Possible to Drive Inside the ZTL?

No, access to ZTL areas is strictly prohibited. Otherwise, you will be fined (the fine is the customer’s responsibility).

Car Rental

What are the Requirements for Renting a Car?

How Can I Recover the Car if it Has been Towed by the Municipal Tow Truck?

To retrieve the vehicle after being towed by the municipal tow truck, you need to contact the competent authorities, namely the Local Police. Subsequently, you will be required to go to the municipal depot and pay the related monetary penalty, in addition to the cost of removing the vehicle. It is important to note that Rent Me Now does not assume responsibility for the expenses incurred to recover the vehicle.

It is reminded that at the time of vehicle pick-up, it is mandatory to present the rental contract and a personal identification document.

What Happens if I Return the Vehicle Late?

In case of delay in picking up the car, the customer is required to notify our office. In case of delay in returning, as the vehicle must be prepared for the next customers, vehicles must be returned to the rental company at the agreed time and place. In case of delay exceeding 60 minutes, an additional day’s rental fee will be charged.

Bike Rental

What are the Requirements for Renting a Bike?

You must have an original identification document.

Is a Security Deposit Required?

Yes. To rent a bike, a security deposit is required: MTB/Bike €100 – MTB B/E-Bike €150 – E-MTB €200. The deposit can be paid with a credit card, which will be pre-authorized for the amount and then automatically released within 48 hours after returning the bike if there are no damages. It is also possible to pay the deposit in cash, which will be refunded upon return if there are no damages to the bike.

What Changes if I Pay the Security Deposit in Cash?

The daily rental cost changes: + €15/Day

You will be fully responsible. It is important to note that Rent Me Now does not assume responsibility for expenses incurred to compensate third parties.

What should I Do if I Have an Accident?

You will be required to take financial responsibility for the damages caused. Until the bike is returned, you are responsible for its safekeeping.

What Happens if the Bike is Stolen?

If the vehicle is stolen, the correct procedure is to first call the local police and then the rental station, providing them with the report of lost keys (in case of electric) or vehicle theft that you filed with the police. The financial responsibility is yours. To prevent theft, we recommend checking the possibility of parking the bike in a safe or guarded place, always using the chain provided at the time of rental.
